LOST ON LINKEDIN: What Happens When You Get Kicked Off Of Social Media

"One day you're the keynote, the next you're a ghost. This is what it feels like to lose your digital identity in a blink."
The Power of LinkedIn—Until It's Gone
I poured hours—HOURS—into crafting a digital presence that was more than just professional. It was purposeful.
I wrote newsletters that resonated with entrepreneurs hungry for real talk.
I plowed through profiles looking for aligned collaborators.
I sent and received endorsements that felt like mini-celebrations.
I curated a digital vibe that felt like walking into a high-energy networking event with just the right lighting, the right people, and the right energy.
LinkedIn wasn’t just a platform—it was my professional playground, my stage, my incubator.
And then, it was gone.
“This Account Does Not Exist”
I woke up that morning excited, eager to check on a few conversations I was nurturing and see what new momentum was unfolding. I logged in and…
“This account does not exist.”
Five words. One emotional gut-punch.
No warning. No email. No explanation. Just digital death.
Imagine walking into your office and finding every file shredded, every contact erased, every whiteboard scrubbed clean—and no one to tell you why.
The Identity Crisis of the Digital Age
I spiraled. I’ll admit it. I call it “social media depression,” and it’s real. I felt disoriented, disappointed, and in mourning—not just for the connections, but for the part of me that lived on LinkedIn.
Because here’s the thing: when you build something with heart, intention, and community, its loss cuts deep. Especially when you're just on the brink of something big.
I was about to step into major relationships, podcast bookings, partnerships, and visibility I had spent years sowing. Gone. Like a magician’s puff of smoke.
Lessons from the Abyss
Losing LinkedIn wasn’t just a tech glitch. It was a wake-up call.
1. You Are Not Your Platform
Yes, LinkedIn is a powerful tool—but it’s not your identity. Your brand is the soul behind the screen, not the screen itself.
2. Own Your List, Own Your Community
Platforms can vanish, but your email list, podcast audience, blog subscribers, and real-world relationships are yours to keep. That’s now my biggest focus.
3. Back Up Everything
Screenshots. Contact lists. Newsletter drafts. You never know when you’ll need to rebuild from scratch—and faster.
4. Build Omnipresence—Strategically
Don’t put all your brilliance in one basket. Show up on multiple platforms, but with intention and boundaries. Be the same YOU, everywhere.
The Comeback Is Always Stronger Than the Setback
Here’s what I know now: I might’ve been lost on LinkedIn, but I am FOUND in purpose.
If you’re reading this, and you’ve ever faced a setback that felt like your world collapsed, remember: sometimes the algorithm deletes your account so you can rewrite your story with a bigger mic.
And I’m here for it.
