After nearly two decades inside Scientology, Anne Gollert Hill is sharing what happened, finding her voice, and proving that starting over doesn't have an expiration date.

What would you do if you realized you'd spent nearly 20 years of your life following someone else's rules?
That was the reality for Anne Gollert Hill.
Anne joined Scientology in 1988, handling communications and marketing for the organization and leading one of its top magazines. She mentioned that the content load was so much that she felt like a robot at the time.
"The more you go into it (Scientology), the more you realize just how dangerous it is. And unfortunately, I did not escape that danger," Anne shared.
On the most recent episode of Creative Entrepreneur with Julie Lokun and Dominick Domasky, Anne opened up about her experiences in Scientology and her journey since leaving the organization in 2007.
One statement from Anne really stuck with me:
"I've wasted 20 years of my life, but I'm not gonna waste 21."
Starting Over at 65
Anne joined TikTok in March at age 65. Since then, she's amassed 1.3 million views and even caught the attention of Jenny McCarthy, who wanted her to appear on her podcast.
After spending years creating content for another organization, Anne is ready to use her voice to spread the truth about Scientology and her experiences.
She's also preparing to release her memoir titled Escape to Joy.
What Entrepreneurs Can Learn From Anne Gollert Hill
There are three lessons that popped out to me about Anne's story that business and entrepreneurs can benefit from:
Trust your instincts. Questioning authority and recognizing unhealthy relationships can protect your independence.
It's never too late to reinvent yourself. Anne is building an audience in her mid-60s. Your next chapter doesn't have an age limit.
Your story has value. People connect with authentic experiences, not just polished marketing messages.
Anne also shared something important about finding the courage to leave difficult situations.
"It's the hardest decision, to leave, because you don't know what's on the other end of it."
Sometimes, she explained, all it takes is one person believing in you to help you find your way forward.
Finding Her Own Joy
What I appreciate most about Anne's story isn't the TikTok views or the celebrity attention.
It's her willingness to speak up after everything she's experienced.
Anne Gollert Hill spent years helping tell someone else's story. Today, she finally gets to tell her own.
And there's something pretty powerful about that.
